A full review of Creality Open Source CR-10 3D Printer an affordable printer for all budgets with great features.

Creality is one of the big players in the 3d printing business located in China, even though it was founded in 2014, it has grown steadily fast, the Creality Open Source CR-10 3D Printer is one their most popular models.

In this review, we will see all the positive qualities this 3d printer offers and the user-friendly features it misses.

A reasonable price for those looking for a printer with many features included and more significant printing volume.

PRO

  • Fast printing.
  • Glass bed
  • Big printing volume.
  • Fast assembling.
  • Includes everything to start printing right away.

CONS

  • Not suited for small spaces.
  • Leveling requires some practice.
  • The manual guide is hard to understand, better use the digital file on the USB.

Tech Specs

Creality Open Source CR-10

Design

A sturdy machine, built with a black metallic frame to protect the printer.

The LCD screen is at the front and is intuitive; the USB, SD Card slot, and WiFi are on the back.

Cables

This model includes the ribbon style cable; this keeps everything tidy and reduces the chances of riddled cables. The only issue with this cable is that it has been reported to break faster.

I suggest printing cable covers and strain reliefs; there are many free models you can find online.

Framework

The open frame is made of aluminum and is sturdy enough to make good prints, and the ample printing space lets you print tall figures.

Bed

The tempered glass bed requires manual leveling; it might not be easy for people with little experience with 3d printers, but it’s manageable with the manual guide.

Some customers report issues with the printings not sticking to the tempered glass, using hairspray to get things to stick to the bed is a fast hack.

Extruder

The single extruder can print the following materials:

  • ABS
  • PLA
  • Wood fill
  • Copper fill
  • Nylon (depending on the temperature)

The set includes two nozzles; one is the typical 0.4mm, but the second one is 0.8 mm, and it makes printing so much faster.

Screen

The touch screen measures 4.5 inches. It’s very intuitive with plenty of information, like extruder and bed temperature, fan speed, and printing progress.

No bugs have been reported in the community so far.

Connectivity

The 3d printer works with USB, SD Card. Please note the USB is not the best quality, so handle with care.

Set-up

These are the items included:

  • 3D Printer
  • Filament Holder
  • Tool Kit
  • SD Card
  • Filament Roll
  • User manual

The printer comes pre-assembled, with the electronics already mounted, and with a tool kit with everything needed for assembly.

As we have already said a little bit above, the assembly is straightforward, fast, and intuitive. Making the assembly of this printer will probably not take you more than one hour to make the assembly of the frame with the base, add the screws to the axes, and adjust the electronics of the printer.

Is it worth it?

Yes, the 3D CR10 printer uses the technology of the deposition of molten material. It is highly recommended for novice users as it comes pre-assembled, and you can have it mounted very quickly.

If you are looking for a printer to get started in 3D printing and with which you can print substantial parts, we believe that this printer is undoubtedly the best alternative on the market right now.
