Design & Features

The LABISTS Entry-Level Mini 3D Printer is a budget-friendly option; the printer requires assembling, but it’s relatively easy to do. It includes two long screws and a screwdriver.

To assemble place the X, Z-axis on the printer base’s side, making sure the white wire comes out through the side slot.

The axis piece will stay in place, but to secure it to the printer platform, screw the two screws, proceed to connect the axis wire to the black wire.

The filament holder is a simple two-piece screw assemble to the 3d printer base on the opposite side of the axis.

To complete the process, connect the power supply to the port of the control box.

The set includes a USB adaptor with an SD Card slot.

The control box contains two printing options. The first one is with a USB cable that allows you to monitor the printing process from your desktop or laptop or the SD Card for the 3d printer to work independently.

The removable magnetic base has a porous surface; this way, the melted PLA will adhere better, and it is flexible to pop-out the model after it cools down.

Leveling the base is a manual process, and you will need a blank piece of paper.

Before turning the printer on, manually move the axis to the origin point, place the paper over the magnetic base (for a faster leveling place a paper piece slightly more significant than the magnetic core).

Turn the printer on and press the ‘Home’ button. The axis will automatically move down to the corner base; once it stops, try to move the paper, want it to move, but with some friction, to regulate this twist the screw under the base until it has enough resistance.

After leveling the first corner, press the ‘Play’ button for 3 seconds until the axis moves back up (do not try to move the axis manually while the machine is on, as it will break).

Unplug the power supply from the control box and repeat the same process with all four corners.

Now you can push the PLA filament in the extruder top hole and once it stops, press the ‘+’ button, when the melted filament starts to drop from the bottom nozzle, its ready to start printing.

If you want to print right away, the SD Card includes a cat model, just put the USB adaptor with the SD Card on the control box and press play.

The control box will enter the printing mode and start working as soon as the extruder reaches 374°F.

After finishing the printing, you can pop-out the model after it cooled down, remove the model base, and clean the model with tweezers or sandpaper.

The quality is not the best as this is a basic 3d printer.

The clean-up is easy, like most 3d printer from this category.

Considering that the average price for this 3d printer is 150 US dollars through Amazon and includes a 2-years warranty and customer support, it’s a good deal.

Would I suggest this printer?

labists 3d printer for kids

Yes, the simple interface makes this is an excellent gift option for kids to promote their creativity, but be mindful that an adult must supervise this as we are dealing with hot electric parts and melted plastic.

Its also a great addition to schools to teach science and technology as they are cheap, and finally, they are also an excellent purchase for those new to the 3d printer world.

This won’t give you the best-printed models, but I can see it being used to print utility pieces where not much detail is required.
